For fans of Ben Khan and Dessert, we bring you San Scout and their stellar new tune ‘In / Balance”, which brings together the alt-pop melodies and slinky guitars of the former with the outlandish samples and engaging electronic production of the latter. So who are San Scout? Well, they’re Johnny and Freddie, a couple of friends who met at university, began making music together, realised it was wicked and moved to London. We’ve previously highlighted Jai Paul-meets-Sohn-esque track ‘Render’ and the poppier ‘Get Me By’. You’ve probably noticed that San Scout tend to get thrown in with quite a few electro-pop heavyweights, and that’s because they sound every bit the production professional, especially in the new ‘In / Balance’. It’s steamy with the hushed, layered vox, brooding on the rumbling static bass, playful on the guitars and it even sounds relaxed with the downtempo beats and almost effortless performance. It’s the first song since their EP1, so it makes sense to expect an EP2 in the near future. - HT
