Freddie and Jonny met by chance, while studying songwriting and production respectively in Leeds; the result of this lucky meeting is San Scout, a dreamy, funk-tinged electronic project that has today just unveiled its third track. "Render" blends glitchy, twitching production, that gently recalls the likes of Jai Paul, James Blake and SOHN, thanks to its swelling, brilliantly unsettling rhythm. A seductive, hushed melody is then allowed to call out above, somehow managing to create an atmosphere of both smokey relaxation as well as heartfelt passion. "I don't know why it is keeping me up at night?" pines the vocal with increasingly impassioned desperation; if "Render" is the result, we wish more sleepless nights on San Scout. -G.O'B
