JESSIE WARE SAY YOU LOVE ME (SHURA REMIX)

Jessie Ware's first album, awash with midnight R&B shuffles and chugging garage inflections, inspired a whole wave of smart, sensitive new British songwriters. Now one of the South Londoner's closest aesthetic disciples, Shura, has been afforded the honour of taking on the latest track from Ware's upcoming release, Tough Love - the heartfelt Ed Sheeran co-write 'Say You Love Me'. Bathed in a dark, twisted, torch-song twilight, Sheeran's routine guitar strums are loosed in favour of zipping streaks of vibrating synth, but the key addition from the 'Touch' and 'Just Once' singer comes in the form of a grating, pitch-warped vocal sample, which acts as a sultry counterweight to Ware's perfumed flow. It still feels like an adoring clarion call, but the hearts entangled in Shura's world seem far trickier to thaw.
