SHURA JUST ONCE

West Londoner Shura broke our hearts with the tender ‘Touch’ a few months back, and she’s at it again on new single ‘Just Once’. It’s the sort of smooth RnB x pop tearjerker that Jessie Ware would be proud to call her own, detailing the loss of self-belief after a breakup - and the one night stands which inevitably offer solemn comfort. That subtly cooed refrain, “If you get my name wrong, I won’t get pissed off ‘cause I wish I was somebody else," sticks like a lump in the throat long after the final chords drip-drip out. Topping ‘Touch’ was never gonna be easy, but we think ‘Just Once’ will become one of this year’s best-loved, albeit totally skewed, torch songs.
