CAPITAL X IN US WE TRUST

Female empowerment is a term that’s bandied about so much nowadays that it’s at risk of losing its...well...powerso Winchester duo Capital X make a welcome return with their typically forthright new single ‘In Us We Trust’.  This latest offering crackles with eclectic influences, from burbling Speak & Spell era synths and pulse-quickening Fischerspooner nods to an Eastern-tinged, M.I.A. inspired choral melody. Reassuringly honest but never over-earnest, ‘IUWT’ feels far more emotive and notably more personal than previous cuts 'Teeth' and 'Diamond Hard', with Julz B’s languid, swaying vocal twisting her bold call to arms into an almost melancholic dirge as she reminds the world that '...we know we are enough, in us we trust.' This is a song "...born in the wake of a presidential pussy-grab scandal and in support of the mobilisation of movements for egalitarianism everywhere. In this global rallying cry, Capital X call activists for equality and justice to arms.” And in those words we do trust. - AO
