WYLDEST ALIVE (REDREAM)

TMR favourite Wyldest is back on our pages with the second track from forthcoming album, Redream Chaos, which we discussed in an interview with the projects leader Zoe Mead last year. This album version of original track ‘Alive’ is a gossamer acoustic breakdown that draws the listener into the heart of Mead’s songwriting. We can’t help but hang on those falsetto words, “Children of the night / Feeling alive. Looking back never helped anyway / Keep forgetting…” as we ruminate on our own nostalgic longing for lost days of youth. Further explaining this gentle guitar track, Mead shares that “Alive” is a song about love, loss and life-chapters coming and passing. The lyrics began life as a short poem about a past relationship ending and the struggle that can be experienced in letting things or people go.” While this song may be one of retrospect, we’re looking into the future towards the release of Wyldest’s sophomore record out 6th March via Hand In Hive. - Hannah Thacker
