JORDAN MAX ME, MARY AND MY GUITAR

We recently featured Jordan Max in our review of Neighbourhood Festival 2018, and he’s already back on TMR with brand new single ‘Me, Mary and My Guitar’. The Oldham crooner boldly begins the song, “I can’t believe they thought I was done, but baby I’m back now,” no doubt a cheeky call-out to the doubters. The other meaning to Max’s new track is explained by the British soulster: "It’s about a broken relationship, it didn’t work out. I thought I loved her at the time but it all went wrong, no longer am I her fool. Now I’ve let go of that and it’s just me, Mary (weed) and my guitar, I’m walking away in the shoes she bought me.” The grooving number is accompanied by a cinematic music video directed by David Helman who captures the soul-searching that many of us go through following a break-up; we typically look for escape from the painful reality and here Jordan Max puts this desire into action, hopping on his motorbike and traversing the sparse American midwest. - Hannah Thacker
