It’s not often we end up reviewing classical pieces, but when they’re as spellbinding as Marina Baranova’s ‘The Snow Is Dancing’ we just can’t help ourselves. The track is out now via Berlin-based Neue Meister and sees Baranova reinterpret Debussy in an entirely modern way, adding vocals and lyrics to create a gorgeous soundscape. Speaking about playing Debussy the traditional, classical way, Baranova says: “It didn’t feel good, and I didn’t want to play them in grand, romantic ways.” We hope that this is just the first of a series of tracks which breathe new life into these iconic works.
