‘Champagne Clouds’ is the impressive debut single from LA singer Malia Civetz. The young talent has already found herself some star studded company – the track was co–written with Tiggs and Phil Paul who produced Zara Larsson’s ‘So Good’, and is signed to J Kash and Ross Golan’s new label Friends With Pens. Despite the sugary sentiment, Champagne Clouds is far from frivolous fizzy pop – with Civetz’s silky vocal warning ‘I ain’t up to nothing / showing off too much skin / baby that don’t mean I want you’. It’s not all serious though, as the track takes its inspiration from the fact that Civetz is always the last to leave the party. Here’s hoping she manages to tear herself away for some more studio time soon – with a debut as strong as this she’s onto something good. -HM
