It’s no secret that here at TMR, we’re fans of London outfit Strong Asian Mothers, covering ‘Just Another’, ‘Animal’ and ‘Hard To Find’ throughout 2017. Putting the videography skills of band-member Amar Chadha-Patel, alongside filmmaker partner Tom Allen, to good use, the band’s most recent track is transformed into a quirky homage to retro technology and sci-fi. Starting off with less-than-usual interview on Science Today, SAM’s glum-faced humour gives way to a cinematic space odyssey. Generous nods to the iconic Star Wars franchise, the band, plus some serious-looking pilots, take on the Death… Quadrilateral? It’s a way out-there approach to a song about searching for meaningful connection on a messy night out, but that’s what we love about Strong Asian Mothers.
