SKATERS CRIMINAL

Slacker-rock band SKATERS have trodden a slightly unusual geographical path to get where they are today. Hull-born British guitarist Joshua Hubbard met singer/songwriter Michael Cummings at a party in L.A. and -to cut a long story short - the band are all now based in NYC. However, on latest cut 'Criminal' it seems the band have returned to their northern English roots, producing a track steeped in Madchester nostalgia, which sounds like it could have come straight off Primal Scream's Screamadelica. The vocals are catchy and the dance grooves are strong, whilst maintaining their signature lo-fi feel. Discussing the video Hubbard explains, "All good things come to an end…and some bad things. You always write a song when you come out of a relationship. Our new gf is way poorer than our ex. This video is another online relationship forged. The outcome... Sick Luton-based artist, Cameron West, kills the visual accompaniment for our new tune 'Criminal'. God bless the internet and God bless America." SKATERS' second LP Rock and Roll Bye Bye is out today. - HLMX
