SCREAMING FEMALES GLASS HOUSE

Screaming Females have been making complex and thoughtful punk rock for over a decade now. The New Jersey cult-heroes' latest single 'Glass House' is a powerful piece of melodic noise-rock, which sees singer Marissa Paternoster entering a nail-biting game of call and response with a savage guitar riff. Suspense builds as the song approaches the 2 minute 30 second mark, before it erupts into a mammoth chorus, which'll be starting mosh pits for years to come. Despite its catchy melodies and mind-bending guitar parts, there's an undeniable sense of anxiety about the track, which was inspired by the negative effects of social media on our mental health. Paternoster explains: "Our shrinking world (is) crushed under a deluge of information, constant contact and social media sludge...It has narrowed my connection to reality in a way that I find rather upsetting." With 6 studio albums already under their belts, 'Glass House' smashes any doubt that LP number 7 is going to be anything short of brilliant. -HLMX
