MIYA FOLICK WOODSTOCK

Rising alternative talent Miya Folick pays homage to the iconic Joni Mitchell with this celestial cover of ‘Woodstock’, which will also act as the closing statement to Folick’s Give It To Me EP. In line with the rock sensibility of ‘Trouble Adjusting’, ‘Woodstock’ presents a floatier, purer version of the genre that’s very respectful of Mitchell’s original version, but still translates the Los Angeles artist’s own bold persona. Her voice trills with passion through glass-shattering highs and carefully delivered words that drift over soft percussion and an eerie, perceptive guitar sequence. On the whole, Folick’s rendition of ‘Woodstock’ is reminiscent of her less poppy, less ‘90s introduction, the Strange Darling EP, and therefore acts as a reminder to fans of why we fell in love Miya Folick in the first place. - HT
