Having previously featured multi-talented South Londoner Jerkcurb's incredible title track from his recently-released album as a List Pick, we were thrilled to discover the accomplished new video for 'Air Con Eden'. Providing the perfect accompaniment to the track's surreal, loungey sound, the carefully crafted visual for 'Air Con Eden' creates a hazy alternate reality that draws firmly on a wealth of obscure 50s references. Glowing with a warm hazy, tone and a stunning colour palate, this whimsical new world exists somewhere between the off-kilter realms of Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Wes Anderson's Grand Budapest Hotel. Discussing the clip, director Max Jedwab explained, "I knew from my first listen that we had to create a world unbound to convention and reality, I also knew it had to use miniatures, and evoke the uncanny. Using miniatures opened up endless possibilities, and freed us to work in a way radically different to my previous videos. We really wanted to create a utopian space, and stole tonnes of references from 50s greeting cards, architectural models and classic MGM stage designs. We had an amazing team working on it: William Wyndham’s input definitely elevated it, he designed the aquarium scene from scratch, and his other touches throughout add so much to the wonder of it all.” Air Con Eden is out now. -Holly Mullineaux
