INSECURE MEN SUBARU NIGHTS

Insecure Men is the latest creative project from founding Fat White Family member Saul Adamczewski. Recruiting a gang of friends and musicians including Childhood's Ben Romans-Hopcraft, fellow Fat White Nathan Saoudi and Sean Lennon, Insecure Men have been bubbling under the radar for a couple months with only a legendary on-off slot at Brixton's infamous Windmill to date for those in the know. Yesterday the group emerged from obscurity with the arrival of their debut single 'Subaru Nights' alongside news of signing to Fat Possum. Written in Fat White's famed practice space The Queens Head in Stockwell, produced by Sean Lennon and mixed by Marta Salogni 'Subaru Nights' is a surreal wash of modulated synthesizers, twinkling vibraphones and exotic lap-steel guitar. Discussing the track in a recent interview Saul shared: “We really wanted [our music] to be very British, or English I guess, and suburban but with a Hawaiian vibe. We wanted it to have a 1970s dinner party vibe, like that Mike Leigh [TV play] Abigail’s Party but soundtracked by Martin Denny. A Subaru is a suburban boy racer car. I’m not sure if this translated at all in how the song turned out but in a way we were trying to get a Robert Wyatt-style vocal, with me really singing my heart out.” -HLMX
