Starting off as a one-piece project in 2014, Ghost Funk Orchestra has expanded into a 10-piece psychedelic soul band, taking influence from jazz, afro-beat and surf-rock.Following a number of EP’s and singles, GFO have just dropped a single entitled ‘Seven Eight’. It’s a jangly 60’s style blues jam with percussive drums, repetitive guitars and a groove driven bass-line. The song is laced with sections of dreamy psych jazz, and is stitched together with the strong, sassy female vocal. Dirty, soulful production seeps out of this band, the kind that would suit being on the soundtrack of a Tarantino film. Their debut album A Song For Paul comes out on August 23rd 2019 via Karma Chief Records, a subsidiary of Colemine records. -Ellie Rose Davies
