FLETCHER WAR PAINT

New York vocalist Fletcher's debut single contains about as much sugar as a gallon of Coke, and provides even more of a head-rush. 'War Paint' opens up with a battery of drums, distant booming toms, before morphing into a genuine behemoth of a pop song, taking cues from Ryn Weaver (catchy-as-hell chorus, check), Tove Lo (ferocious but still candied tone) and early Taylor Swift (is that a banjo!?). "Watch me put my warpaint on," she barks throughout - if this hook-laden track is anything to go by, the battle for pop domination just got even fiercer. - DC
