DARLIA BEAM ME UP

Nathan Day, Dave Williams, Mick Larkin and Greg Bishop makes up the Blackpool band Darlia, who over the past couple of years have become known for their synth-laden, Nirvana-esque indie-rock. Their latest single is the brilliant ‘Beam Me Up’, which expresses the catharsis around songwriting. It’s all about brutal honesty, going from those quiet thoughts drifting over sparse piano and suddenly bursting out into fully-fledged hooks. Between the catchy choruses, lead vocalist Day does a little bit of Alex Turner-style posturing; Darlia aren't quite Arctic Monkeys though - they’ve got too much of that nostalgic American grunge style, lifted up by their space-station synths. Speaking of that frontman, here’s what he had to say about the track: “I think no one wants to talk about how they feel cos they're scared people will judge them. Sadly, that's part of the fucking problem. I'm scared too, but this is what that songs about - so fuck it ¯\_(?)_/¯” - HT
