CRUSHED BEAKS SKY BURIAL

Harking back to the hazy Britpop of musical mainstays The Verve and The Stone Roses, there's something distinctively more driving about the new single from London trio Crushed Beaks. Centred around a DIIV-esque reverb-drench guitar hook, a wall of feedback washes over the intro as a thumping four-to-the-floor kick drum triggers the track's official opening. With a euphoric vocal melody elevating the first verse, we'd gamble that Electro Harmonix's iconic Memory Man (favourited by U2's The Edge and shoegaze enthusiasts everywhere) is responsible for the intricately delayed guitar notes that pepper the second verse. Busting into a quick noise-fuelled chorus, "Everything's changed and it keeps changing still", 'Sky Burial' is a high-energy burst of pedal-powered goodness lifted from the threesome's upcoming new album The Other Room due out on the 9th August via Clue Records. -Holly Mullineaux
