Texan producer-vocalist Conner Youngblood is quite simply on fire at the moment. His new EP, The Generation Of Lift, is imminent but at this rate, we will have heard pretty much every track that features on it before its release. 'Diamonds.' is the third cut off the record - following the wispy, romantic 'Stockholm' and the divine 'The Birds of Finland' - and it may just be our favourite of the bunch he's aired so far. Although less elaborate than its predecessors, there's a bit more of a Prince-y thrust to 'Diamonds.' (don't forget the '.') with its zingy '80s funk beat melting into Conner's laidback crooning. Sure, we like Prince, but we love Conner Youngblood; it's high time the rest of the world got to know him, too. - DC
