CLOUD CASTLE LAKE SYNC

Russian novelist Vladimir Nabokov is best known for penning Lolita, the tawdry tale of a middle-aged man's obsession with his landlady's young daughter, but it's one of his lesser-known anthologies which has informed the naming of Dublin trio Cloud Castle Lake. Their debut 'Sync' is bathed in a wash of white-noise effects, cascading, choppy Radiohead rhythms, whooping brass parts, jazzy bass licks and Sigur Rós-ish vocal lines. It's not a world away from fellow pastorally-inspired eclectics Adult Jazz's tightly-wound, infinitely intricate stylings. What's not to love?
