CAMERON AG LOST DIRECTION

Occasionally, you'll meet an artist whose backstory almost threatens to overshadow the music. Oxford-based crooner Cameron AG grew up in Nicaragua, where his parents worked as missionaries. So far, so different. A Baptist Minister by trade, Cameron's old man allowed him to practice his music-making in the church itself, where he soon became the go-to kid for teaching instruments to the other youngsters in the parish. On Cameron's first proper single, 'Lost Direction', he comes off like the estranged little brother of 2015's melancholic-pop poster child Tobias Jesso Jr. and Canadian indie-rock legend Mac Demarco, with woozy piano melodies and hearty lyrics at the fore. 'Lost Direction' has a modern kick to it, but Cameron's music stands up to not only his contemporary peers, but the classic balladry of Nilsson and Lennon, too. One thing's for certain, Cameron AG is only heading in one direction: right to the top. Cameron AG - DC
