Evolution is an interesting topic within music. A band who pushes their sound to its limits, experimenting and evolving in the process - is a band who want to challenge themselves, and essentially challenge their fanbase. We think that’s how things should be done, and today - Pennsylvania’s Balance and Composure are doing exactly that, with their ambitious new single ‘Postcard’. The first cut to be lifted from the much-anticipated 3rd full length Light We Made - the band employ some refreshing electronic-tinged drum samples to sit aside Jon Simmons’ instantly recognisable vocal tones, and the slick reverberating guitar work the quintet have become synonymous with. It’s an interesting approach and rebrand for a band who’ve been labelled as post-hardcore for much of their career to date. However, we must remember that this is the first music to be heard from the new album, and who knows where it’ll go from here. All we can say, is we’ll be waiting with bated breath for the next reveal. -JC
