Following their promising post-punk tinged List Pick 'Calling It' and album title-track 'Signal', LA outfit Automatic, are celebrating the release of their debut LP with a polished new video for 'Strange Conversations'. Reflecting the track (and indeed the entire album)'s sense of alienation, the video for 'Strange Conversations' stars model Sarah Abney as a lone visitor to a bar where Automatic are playing on a quiet Tuesday night. Anchored by an 80s-inspired bass groove, otherworldly synth pads churn out a repetitive lead melody as simple drums leave rooms for the band's plainly delivered vocals. Noting David Lynch as an influence on both their sound and aesthetic, the Samsonite-directed clip glows with a red Lynchian hue as Abney sways alone on the dance floor until the closing credits roll.
