GIRL AS WAVE POLAROID

Sounding like a seamless combination between Blondie and Daughter, New York artist Girl As Wave is a notable find for those of you who love passive dream-pop as heard in debut song ‘Polaroid’. A feedback-fueled melody molds our first impression, then an upstream drum beat, and lastly a tambourine shake. The nameless artist paints an urban landscape through her apathetic, velveteen voice creating the city-based backdrop where Girl As Wave wrote this song, imagining endless possibilities emphasised by her repeated use of the words “forever” and “ever”. Written with and produced by the L.A. producer and multi-instrumentalist Jimmy Deer, ‘Polaroid’ is the first of many promised tracks to come from this newcomer’s first EP, Poison Vines and Nectar, due for release early next year. - HT
