In a slamming indictment of the digital age, Night Owls try to convince us that it gets better with age. With direct, cutting lyrics such as ‘there’s a residual addiction to satisfy my intuition/I can’t help but take a look because I don’t know what I’ve missed’, the band tackle head on the perils of living in a digital age. “Better With Age is a commentary on this generation’s obsession with social media and how people portray their lives through rose-tinted filters online. It’s written from the perspective of someone who’s become addicted to social media and how it’s become addictive” – they say. Topical subject aside, ‘Better With Age’ is a biting grunge anthem complete with unforgiving synth patterns and screeching guitar lines.
