YELLOW HOUSE IT FEELS THE SAME EVERYDAY

South African songwriter Yellow House is back with a surf-tinged piece of despondency, ‘It Feels The Same Everyday’. A minimalist electronic beat (that could almost be an old school hip hop backing track) keeps the woozy song steadily ticking over, while a mirage of drawn-out strings and Emile van Dango’s wandering vocals float throughout. This track is another psychedelic trip and - similar to preluding single ‘Control’ - the Cape Town musician is once again preoccupied with examining the human condition. At times it’s almost overwhelming repetitive, bringing new meaning to each revised lyrics, particularly the direct question, “who are you to turn your face away from the darker days?” As the fourth and second-to-last track from his upcoming Carnival Of Fears EP, we haven't got long to hear the Yellow House debut in full. - HT
