ISOLATED YOUTH GHOST TOWN

Swedish post-punk quartet Isolated Youth have returned with their new track, ‘Ghost Town’. It’s a slithering gothic cut that pulses and twists throughout, with relentlessly rigid bass underpinning an icy lead vocal courtesy of Alex Mardberg. The textures during the track’s climactic moments are intense and cold, with layers of distortion creating an uneasy atmosphere that reflects the context of its recording. “The track was meticulously crafted in an underground rehearsal space adjacent to a forest cemetery in Stockholm. This eerie and haunting setting, characterised by a perpetual cold wind and unsettling fake bird chirps designed to guide blind people, might not have been traditionally inspiring, but it undeniably influenced our music in profound ways.” ‘Ghost Town’ is the second glimpse of their upcoming debut album, miserere mei, which drops later in the year. -Dan Peeke
