WRAY I AM A LONER

Next to nothing is known about new UK artist, Wray, other than, well, she's based over here and she writes deliciously bleak pop ballads for fun. Take her debut (of sorts) 'UNMERRY' - a minute-long riff on the Garland/Sinatra festive classic, which if cut open, would almost certainly bleed ice, it's dark for dark's sake, and we love her for it. New stalker anthem 'I Am A Loner' is a lot more structured, featuring creeping guitars, muted percussion and distant brass trills, with Wray declaring, "I'm scaling your brickwork, you won't mind if I fall/I'm hearing that bitch talk, and I'm not lonely at all," in a calculated tone, so creepy, it's guaranteed to make every hair on your body stand on end. We're obsessed. - DC
