WILEY FROM ATLANTA SHELLS ON THE RUG

We recently introduced you to the hip-hop, jazz and indie inspired style of Wiley From Atlanta with his recent track ‘Blood Orange’, and now the new name is back with another cut called ‘Shells On The Rug.’ As before, it’s Wiley’s sandpaper drawl which adds edges of definition to the laidback instrumentation. Another recurrent trait with Wiley’s music is that of love, or more specifically how love can turn sour. Speaking about the song, Wiley From Atlanta says “The song's title draws inspiration from the volatile relationship of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love. I tried to make 'Shells on the Rug' a vivid portrait of toxic relationships. I also wanted to show the addictive nature of love.” This time around there’s a guest verse from Kenny Mason, bringing more of that Atlanta hip-hop flair to the forefront of Wiley’s alternative sound. - Hannah Thacker
