From Wand's prolific beginnings, releasing 3 albums in just over a year in 2015, the Cory Hanson-led garage rockers Wand seemed like a psychedelic force to be reckoned with. After dabbling in various Ty Segall-related projects, writing a solo album and touring with Ty in his 'Muggers' band, Hanson has been keeping himself busy. 'Plum' is the first new music we've heard for a while, which sees the L.A psych-rockers taking a break from face-melting to work on something a little more challenging. With the help of new band members Robbie Cody (guitar) and Sofia Arreguin (keys, vocals) the now-quintet have created a complex and slow-building piano-led psychedelic adventure, which sits on the right side of pop. Wand's new album (also titled Plum) will be released on Drag City on the 22nd of September. - HLMX
