Keeping disco music alive isn’t always the easiest thing to do, but through ‘Rumours’, Melbourne based DJ The MilkMan brings the genre into the 21^st century with ease, unafraid to throw the flair of other genres into the mix where necessary. The opening drum pattern isn’t a million miles from Michael Jackson’s ‘Beat It’, the retro chords seem to take from a club-ready house track, while the time-stretched vocal samples add a modern twist. However, it is the reworked, slightly distorted vocals taken from Adele’s 2011 track ‘Rumour Has It’ that give this piece its most interesting draw. The MilkMan has taken the track to an entirely new world through his funky beats, choppy chords and melodic guitar work. - Dan Peeke
