Structured around an eerie descending guitar line, the b-side to Jerkcurb aka Jacob Read's brilliant 'Voodoo Saloon' is equal parts shiny dream pop and melancholic blues. 'Little Boring Thing' contradicts its title, effortlessly blending together brooding bass guitar and minimal percussion with other-worldly synthesizers and soothing vocals, which provide the perfect soundtrack for some soul searching. Read explains, “Little Boring Thing is about sleepwalking into comfort, and then suddenly realising it’s happening. It’s simplistically cynical, crude and offensive, about feeling superior and predicting the future and then ultimately being proven wrong.” Jerkcurb will play the Lexington in London on the 11th of October. -HLMX
