Announcing her sinister sounding album Blood Bitch for release on 30th September via Scared Bone Records, avant garde songstress Jenny Hval has given us a preview of what to expect in single 'Female Vampire'. The gruesome themes are the rope on which this album hangs, with inspiration, stories and characters devised from horror and exploitation films from the seventies. It's not just all fiction though, as she claims to have found direction from natural blood cycles such as menstruation. She's never been one to shy away from women's issues and the outcome, in true Jenny Hval style, will no doubt be executed sublimely. In the meantime 'Female Vampire' shows itself to be complex and sensory, just like the subjects and the artist herself. - SJ
