The pressure to follow up an astonishing debut such as ‘Like A Funeral’ has got to be a pretty heavy burden to bear, but it appears that the shoulders of singer-songwriter Erik Jonasson can carry that weight. His first track was saturated in pensive pauses, cinematic violins, a heart-warming pop melody and that slightly raspy, folk-leaning vocal. At the start of 'Autumn Falls', it sounds like we’ll be following the same folk-pop tropes, but here’s where the 23-year-old Swede surprises. He does still retain that lovelorn atmosphere that fans fell for the first time round, but it’s the welcome addition of a steady indie-rock backbeat, layered frets and a spine-tingling electric guitar solo that will win your heart in ‘Autumn Falls’. Currently signed to Scandinavian label Hybris, this talented songwriter isn’t dropping any hints as to what’s next, but whenever that is there’s one thing that’s for sure, we’ll be waiting. - HT
