BIIG PIIG ROSES AND GOLD

South-London based, Irish born Biig Piig is back with a new jazz-funk single ‘Roses and Gold’. It has a repetitive 70s style funky bass line, dreamy piano runs and spacious synths. The flutes evoke images a sunny Brazilian landscape, and Biig Piig’s vocals have the same modest and tender tone of bossanova singers like Joyce or Rosa Passos. Biig Piig makes use of her bilingual talents by singing a verse in Spanish, which she learnt from her time spent living in Spain. Although ‘Roses and Gold’ uses elements of funk and soul, there is also a modern hip hop breeziness to the whole track due to the use of drum sounds and bass-heavy production. 'Roses and Gold' is a taste of a new EP Biig Piig has been working on. She is performing at EartH in London on 24th October. - Ellie Rose-Davies
