Back in 2014, the mainstream music headlines were overwhelmed with the ideas that dance music had taken over pop, to the point that it was compulsory to every major artist to have a go at this club-born genre. With acts like Clean Bandit and Years & Years contributing greatly to the charts with their own raised BPM sound, it’s quite appropriate that twin brothers from Sydney with a knack for electronic music jumped on this renaissance to introduce us to Cosmo’s Midnight. Since then, they’ve collaborated with the likes of Lido and Kero Kero Bonito, released a much-praised Moments EP and even remixed a track from GoldLink. Now, the Aussie boys are back with ‘History’, a vibrant track with fire-point synths, punchy beats and a healthy dose of R&B. This infectious rhythm is helped along greatly by a crackling, pop guest vocal (think Jessie Reyes-meets-Billie Eilish) and a highly relatable tale of lost inhibition. - HT
