Captured Tracks signees Widowspeak have shared news of their new album Expect The Best, with a gorgeously atmospheric new single 'Dog'. Reverb-soaked acoustic guitars strum gracefully as singer Molly Hamilton's soft and smokey vocals channel Mazzy Star's Hope Sandoval above a subtle undercurrent of carefully-crafted noise and minimal drums. The Otium-directed video is a dig at modern technology as the artificial glow of Hamilton's smart phone protrudes rudely through the romantically lit atmosphere of the rest of the clip. Hamilton explains, "I think (social media) will help me feel connected to people I used to see more, but I end up feeling lonelier, like I'm missing out on a sense of contentedness that comes with staying put or at least committing to a particular direction. So it's not literally about my dog so much as the way a dog might think about its home — not overthinking the next move, geographic or mental." - HLMX
