Already a notorious name in the French Rap scene, Parisian producer Wealstarr now drops his new ITB2 EP, leading with the extraordinary electronic single ‘Piu Piu’. A singular track, it is difficult to know where to begin with ‘Piu Piu’, suffice it to say that this is an extremely unusual kind of psychedelic music. Undoubtedly there are House as well as Trap influences in its DNA, but it must’ve gone through some pretty serious mutation with the track constantly morphing, changing speed and feeling at all times like it might just fall apart entirely. Indeed, ‘Piu Piu’ is both a thrilling and deeply disorientating listen. Furthermore, its video (shot in Tokyo, and directed by Golgotha) provides the perfect visual accompaniment to such a dazzling, hyperreal track. – KJ
