Rising Australian trio Telenova have returned with their new single, ‘Power’. It’s a vibrant slice of disco, propelled by a punchy four-to-the-floor bass drum and a deep, pumping bass line. During its verses, the track feels laid back and calm, with Angeline Armstong’s conversationally melodic voice at the forefront. The chorus explodes to life, with walls of kaleidoscopic synths supporting an effortless groove. Armstrong, who also directed the track’s video, explains: “The song is a fable-like story of a flower in love with the sun, but the sun is setting. And the flower is afraid of being left alone in the darkness without the very thing that gives it power and strength. Of course, the flower is unaware that the sun inevitably always rises again.” The band are touring the UK and Europe this September. -Dan Peeke
