Bristol-based alt-pop / indie rock band Make Friends have dropped their new single, ‘Loaded Fun’. It’s a slick, addictive cut defined by intricate orchestration and an effortlessly catchy lead vocal. Groovy drum patterns underpin an accompaniment that wanders from bright synth colours to subtly complex guitar spirals. Fans of Everything Everything will find a lot to enjoy in Make Friends’ jumpy and energetic sound. They describe it as “a post-break-up song. The track depicts a relationship where one person has fallen into bad habits, and after everything has broken down, you reflect upon what went wrong. The title ‘Loaded Fun’ depicts having “fun” but at a cost, in this instance using drugs excessively to enjoy the company of your partner.” The band are headlining Notting Hill Arts Club in London on July 11th, 2024. -Dan Peeke
