LIBRARY CARD KIERKEGAARD

Our favourite track from Rotterdam-based four-piece Library Card’s debut EP is the fantastic ‘Kierkegaard’. It’s an angular and surprising track throughout, opening with a gut-punch of distorted punk dissonance that quickly shifts into a gently hypnotic 5/4 pattern. Switches between these two juxtaposing vibes define the track, creating a sense of unease that remains until the tempo ramps up and its violent climax arrives. ‘Kierkegaard’ is taken from Library Card’s debut EP, Nothing, Interesting, which is out now. It’s an eclectic six-track work that brings together influences that range from post-punk and art-rock, to the poetry of Anne Clark. The band explains that it “explores themes of love and loss - often intertwined with a growing fear of not being able to keep up with the world as we know it. However, in this process it’s essential to embrace the absurdity of existence, and not take it too seriously.” -Dan Peeke
