Jay Som is a DIY project that is currently packing one hell of a punch. Releasing her debut album Everybody Works on March 10, the Californian 22 year old seems to have come out of nowhere, finding success from the unsigned ranks of Bandcamp. The obscurity to fame story is not without worth though, as second album single '1 Billion Dogs' proves to be a grungy yet melodic triumphant. With a heavy distorted bed, she shows off huskily nonchalant vocals and brings in each instrument to chime with their own lead parts over the fuzz. It really is slacker rock at its best. - SJ
