Her voice is airy and light, while perfectly placed harmonies enrich the tune's modern dynamic. Speaking of the track, purpl has said, “COLD W U is a cautionary tale to myself. I was in a difficult relationship which I still resent to this day… it’s something I have found difficult to move on from, so writing about it has helped me to deal with that hurt and to serve as reminder to never fall into that trap again. I read somewhere that resentment is like drinking poison, which really resonated with me and forced me to address the issue rather than bottling it up.
