After dropping the meditative ‘Colours’ not three weeks ago, Vienna-native and rising electronic producer MOTSA returns with another delicious cut from his forthcoming Petricolour EP: ‘Walked This Road’. While being notably reminiscent of Caribou’s breakout single ‘Can’t Do Without You’, characterised by sensuous synthetic chords, warm throbbing production and shuffling 2-step rhythms, ‘Walked This Road’ undeniably forges its own path. Like its predecessor, it too finds its enduring power in the fertile soil of organic instrumentation, namely in the web of androgynous, ghostly vocals that purvey the track, repeating the increasingly haunting refrain “It seems we’ve walked this road before…” At once mindful and (thoroughly) danceable, spare a few minutes for this kinetic track “about history and humanity repeating the same mistakes over and over.” – KJ
