BRUNO MAJOR EASILY

Northampton boy Bruno Major has teamed up with American writer Emily Elbert in ‘Easily’, the latest track from his 12 month-long release project. After the folky ‘The First Thing You See’, which was released last month, ‘Easily’ feels more like a homage to old jazz and blues ballads, with frank lyrics describing attempts at saving a failed relationship. Tom Misch-inspired lazy guitar meanders in the minimal background, while Major’s vocals are layered to form the warm, smooth chorus: ‘Just because it won’t come easily, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try’. Perhaps it’s the influence of his frequent co-writes with alt. R&B singers including Liv Dawson that have given Major the confidence to divert from his usual style. Yet ‘Easily’ still bears the hallmarks of the artist's confident brand of pop. A perfect antidote to a wintry week, Major's latest delivery is sure to go down ‘Easily’. -HM
