BOXED IN JIST

It's been just over a year since Boxed In's acclaimed debut full-length, and now the band are back with the first taste of their forthcoming Melt album, due 23 September on Nettwerk Records. As we've come to expect from Oli Bayston - who has called upon the experience of sought-after producer Dan Carey for this one - the production is immaculate, as bouncing, funky LCD-esque rhythms dance along below the hypnotic vocal. Sitting alongside the likes of Formation, Bayston explains of the track, "Getting lost in repetitive thought patterns & the form of the music which emulates that mindset. It's perversely enjoyable to work yourself in to a cyclical mantra from which there's no escape." No escape indeed, Boxed In still very much get the 'Jist' of it. - G.O'B
