Down-beat, lo-fo artist (Sandy) Alex G has released his 6th album - House of Sugar, whereby his style and eccentricity is refined and his spirit is defined. 'Taking' is the 5th track on the album. It opens up with insular acoustic strums and light symbol hits, layered with a reversed guitar track and pitched up vocals that sounds like a children's toy piano. The drum sound has a musky flavour and the flute-like melody adds to the whimsical nature of the song. At points, the tune climaxes to place that feels like a psychedelic landscape through a child's eyes, whereby strange synth sounds swell, and vocals repeat the work taking, placing your mind's eye further a field and evoking tranquil and creative mindset. -Ellie Rose Davies
