FRED LESSORE GIVE IT A LITTLE TIME

Today we’re premiering ‘Give A Little Time’, the latest song from South London singer-songwriter Fred Lessore. Pop at its core, Lessore has been influenced by his youth in Peckham, his various heritages of Madagascar, France and Britain, and real-life topics such as mental health, spirituality and heartbreak. It’s the last of these themes that comes to the fore on ‘Give A Little Time’, a deceptively upbeat jaunt of tropical rhythms, bouncing guitar and Lessore’s light-to-the-touch pop vocals. However, as the songwriter explains, we should take this song at face value: “Coming from a will-they-won't-they type space, ‘Give A Little Time’ embodies the move from post-breakup remorse to full blown reconciliation, combining feelings of hope, joy and love to explore the reality of ‘limbo’ and the desire to reunite.” While the catchy hooks certainly do indicate a hopeful perspective, it’s his words that cast a little doubt - “I’m too late / my gestures too little / And I walk away / I’ll have to settle” – however, all wishful thinking is not lost, as Lessore continues, "but if you’re still mine / Come meet me in the middle of a compromise / And give it a little time.” Through this mix of direct storytelling and sun-soaked pop, Fred Lessore brings the summer extra early with ‘Give It A Little Time’. - Hannah Thacker
