LUUNES GLASS

Sounding as fragile as the song's namesake, new Australian duo Luunes make a noteworthy debut with 'Glass'. It's another stunning example of how indie-pop artists can use digital tools to excel their atmospherics. Like trendsetter London Grammar, the pair portrays vulnerability through crystalline electronica. 'Glass' is the song of an exasperated lover or friend, or indeed both, who wearily repeats "I wish you were made of glass, so I could see through you," as the synthesized vocal harmonies continuously fall over one another. With a delicate voice from Anna Milat and brittle electronic production from Sam Litchfield, it seems like this track could break apart at any moment, but it doesn't, this pair are too careful for that to happen. What's more, the balladry piano brings about a hidden strength, something we could hear come to the fore in follow-ups. That's merely speculation, so it will be very interesting to hear what Luunes do next. - HT
